Sr. Revenue Technical Accountant (SaaS)

We are looking for a team player that thrives in a dynamic setting and enjoys challenges. As a Senior Revenue Technical Accountant, you will be a key player of the Revenue Accounting Team. You will have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as strong commitment to process improvement. The ideal candidate will also have a strong technical accounting background with emphasis on ASC 605 and ASC 606. This role will be integral to performing monthly and quarterly tasks, deal package preparation, contract review and ad-hoc tasks as required. You will interact with cross-functional teams in the organization with an end-to-end view on revenue accounting.
This position reports to the Manager, Technical Accounting and will offer a remote work option with the opportunity to travel to our Chicago office.
Your Role in Action
- Stay abreast of changes/updates to revenue accounting standards.
- Proactively communicate any potential impact to revenue recognition policies and provide suggested solutions.
- Research technical guidance and prepare whitepapers for deals involving significant judgements or estimates.
- Perform month end and quarterly close procedures including reconciliation and preparing/posting revenue entries.
- Develop a partnership with outside consultants if assistance is required for complex deal structures.
- Maintain internal controls over revenue accounting operations.
- Partner with cross-functional teams, such as Deal Desk and Sales Operations to provide revenue accounting guidance and advice on whether the deal is scalable.
- Support annual audits performed by external auditors.
- Complete special projects as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
- 4+ years relevant experience (public accounting, industry, or mix)
- Experience with software/SaaS revenue recognition under ASC 606
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel Skills (basic pivot tables, lookup formulas, IF formulas)
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills skepticism.
- Ability to recognize problems, gather data, draw valid conclusions, and effectively present information to managers, peers, and customers.
- Ability to organize and prioritize responsibilities to meet deadlines.
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using SalesForce, Intacct and Zuora is a plus.
- CPA license
Compensation
- Relativity is committed to competitive, fair and equitable compensation practices.
- This position is eligible for total compensation which includes a competitive base salary, annual performance bonus target of 10%, and long-term incentives. The expected salary range for this role is between $83,000 and $113,000. The final offered salary will be based on several factors, including but not limited to the candidate’s depth of experience, skill set, qualifications, and internal pay equity. Hiring at the top end of the range would not be typical, to allow for future meaningful salary growth in this position.
