kCura Launches Relativity Academic Partner Program with 50 Schools

Relativity Academic Partner program brings comprehensive hands-on e-discovery education to law and paralegal students kCura, developers of the e-discovery software Relativity, have announced the Relativity Academic Partner program to give law and paralegal students access to hands-on e-discovery training to help prepare them for the future of litigation. Details of the program were originally unveiled last week in front of more than 1,500 attendees at the annual e-discovery conference, Relativity Fest. As Relativity Academic Partners, schools such as the University of North Carolina School of Law and the Chicago-Kent College of Law prepare their students with legal technology skills by providing them with custom coursework, guest lectures from industry experts, and the same Relativity software used by more than 190 of the Am Law 200, as well as more than 120 litigation support providers across the globe. Everything in the program, from the software and technical infrastructure to instructional material, is provided at no cost to schools. Nearly 50 law schools and paralegal programs including North Carolina, Kent, Michigan State University College of Law, Georgetown University Paralegal Studies Program, University of California Los Angeles Paralegal Training Program, and University of Miami School of Law are already part of the Relativity Academic Partner program. Program instructors have access to additional resources, such as in-person training and the Relativity Customer Portal, where instructors can exchange ideas online. Instructors also benefit from access to kCura's 24/7/365 support team. "The launch of the Relativity Academic Partner program is an exciting moment for us in legal education," saidCinthia Motley, adjunct professor at Kent. "Not only does the program help my students gain software experience, but it allows me to connect with other professors to share best practices and curriculum ideas." To learn more about Kent's experience in the Relativity Academic Partner program, read Motley's interview on the Relativity blog. "A big part of a lawyer's job is figuring out what happened and why," said Andrew Sieja, president and CEO of kCura. "We believe that using e-discovery technology to do that is now a core skillset of practicing law and representing clients in litigation. We're excited to help future lawyers and paralegals build that skill with this program. This is just the beginning of something big, and it's awesome to welcome our Academic Partners to the Relativity community."

kCura Announces Relativity 9.3 to 1,500+ Attendees at Relativity Fest in Chicago

Newest version of e-discovery software makes data analysis easy with a reimagined interface that provides powerful search and data visualization capabilities. kCura, developers of the e-discovery software Relativity, today unveiled Relativity 9.3 in front of more than 1,500 attendees at the annual e-discovery conference, Relativity Fest. Available to the general public on November 23, Relativity 9.3 introduces a reimagined interface that gives users control over how they see and interact with their data, so they can better analyze their information and find what they need faster. With the new interface, you can:

  • Analyze and interact with your data in new ways. Create pivot charts and tables from any field of metadata or coding information, and then save them as widgets to see at a glance where different types of information intersect. Simply click into the widgets to drill into your data even further.
  • Search in a whole new way. An interactive interface takes the complexity out of building complex searches, letting you quickly add criteria and drag and drop conditions into logic groups.
  • Create custom dashboards. Drag and drop your data visualization widgets and lists anywhere on the page, and save your work as a dashboard for easy access to whatever your business needs, such as easy reporting on case progress or quick identification of trends in your data.

"Relativity 9.3 is going to change the way our customers work with their data," said Andrew Sieja, president and CEO of kCura. "They now have a seriously powerful data analysis platform to visualize and interact with their growing data sets—and we focused on making it easy for any user. We're excited to see how our customers are going to put it to use." In total, Relativity 9.3 has 115 new features, including:

  • Greater performance and productivity in Processing, including support for E01 files, as well as the ability to process and extract text with mixed use of Chinese, Japanese, and Korean languages simultaneously
  • Tighter integration between Relativity Processing and Data Grid, helping you start review sooner than ever, even for the largest cases
  • The ability to store billions of documents per case in Data Grid, Relativity's NoSQL data store, as well as immediate search capabilities while data is loading—so you don't need to build or maintain indexes behind the scenes
  • A revamped production model that automates complex productions, reducing the time delays and common errors that can occur when pushing productions out the door
  • Publicly available APIs for data query and analysis, search construction, and processing, giving developers more flexibility with the platform, such as the ability to build interactive interfaces and programmatically  execute processing jobs

"This release strengthens the platform from end to end in direct response to feedback from the Relativity community," said Sieja. "The next three days at Relativity Fest are going to be awesome, as we celebrate their involvement in the evolution of our software and work side by side in educational sessions and hands-on labs." Taking place in Chicago through October 14, Relativity Fest is an annual conference designed to educate e-discovery practitioners and connect the Relativity community. Relativity Fest has grown from 140 attendees at the inaugural conference in 2010 to more than 1,500 attendees this year.
