Spring has sprung, and around here, that means something special: nominations for the Relativity Innovation Awards are now open.
Each year, we reserve some time on the big stage at Relativity Fest to spotlight some of the most incredible people, teams, and technological innovations in our industry. There are people-focused categories for those who stand out—and help others stand out—in the crowded legal marketplace. And there are technology categories, for the tools that folks from in-house, outside, developer, and service-provider teams build to tackle the next generation of legal data challenges.
In 2023, we celebrated the tenth annual Innovation Awards. Over the last decade, what began as a way to celebrate custom Relativity apps has evolved into a monolith of recognition for the brightest minds in the legal profession. We’re really proud of the program, and of every single one of the nominees and winners who’ve participated since 2014.
For the 2024 Innovation Awards, we’re excited to share some updates to the program that will help it better reflect the state of our industry right now—and the people who are guiding us into the future. Read on to learn more about this year’s lineup of awards categories.
When you’re ready, you can start your submissions and nominations to join the race to 2024’s awards ceremony!
2024 Innovation Award Categories
We’ve made a few changes to the tech categories this year, so take a close look at what we’ve got on the list as you prepare your submissions!
Individual Categories
The Innovation Award for Artificial Intelligence recognizes an individual who is at the forefront of artificial intelligence adoption and usage. They are using AI in creative ways, or inspiring others to adopt this technology to solve challenges relevant to the Relativity community. Individuals submitted by the community will join a trailblazing list of nominees—alongside our 2024 AI Visionaries, who are automatically nominated—for this award.
The Innovation Award for Customer Experience recognizes an individual who drives their organization to create or make use of new technologies or processes to improve the customer experience. The ideal candidate is extremely well-versed in Relativity and uses it in innovative and creative ways to solve unique customer needs. We’re looking for a customer advocate who shares their knowledge not only with their team, but with the industry at large.
The Innovation Award for Education & Mentorship recognizes an individual who prioritizes fostering talent and bringing opportunity to the next generation of Relativity users (including those from underrepresented groups, interns, students, et cetera). This individual goes above and beyond to promote emerging talent within the industry. We’re looking for someone who uses innovative learning techniques to give their students or mentees hands-on experience in Relativity. This person also carries the spirit of advocacy—always pushing their students and mentees to explore self-development opportunities and expand their knowledge.
The Innovation Award for Inclusion recognizes an individual who creates a more equitable industry, organization, and/or local community and works at lengths to make sure everyone feels like they belong. When inclusion, diversity, and belonging come together, it unlocks unlimited potential for our industry. Our past winners have built the foundation of a brighter future, one where everyone belongs. We can’t wait to see what our future winners build!
The Innovation Award for Security recognizes an individual who advances security in the industry and inspires others to create or adopt more sophisticated ways to secure physical and online environments. We’re looking for a security buff who creates impact at both the user-specific and industry-wide levels using an innovative mindset. They are a trailblazer in their organization for security innovation.
The Innovation Award for Stellar Women honors a community that has continued to grow since the podcast’s inception in 2018, with crossover episodes, workshops, meet-ups, and even a LinkedIn group. This award recognizes an individual who elevates women in technology by inspiring emerging leaders, building a supportive community of allies, and promoting gender equality and empowerment. The legacy our past winners have created is something Relativity holds close. We’re excited to build the future of elevating women in tech with our new winners and nominees.
Technology Categories
The Innovation Awards first began as a platform for honoring the Relativity users who leverage the platform in new, custom ways, to tackle the unique challenges of their everyday work.
The Best Innovation: Enterprise award goes to the corporate, public sector, or law firm team that uses the Relativity platform in creative ways to solve unique challenges. They build applications and integrations to leverage for their own specific workflows.
The Best Innovation: Developer Partner award (new for 2024) is for Relativity Developer Partners, who build applications and integrations for our platform either to sell from their own stack or to create customizations requested by Relativity users.
The Best Innovation: Partner (previously known as Best Innovation: Service Provider) is aimed at the amazing community of service providers who support enterprises’ use of Relativity each day. These teams create custom apps that help them differentiate their offering and provide even more unique support to their customers.
What’s in a Nomination?
Those which we call winners by any other name would be as awesome, would they not?
True, but there’s something really awesome about being named an Innovation Awards honoree. Our finalists’ bios are shared around the legal community during the voting period, earning some well-deserved recognition from their peers—whether they go on to win or not.
And those who do win get a chance to take the stage at Relativity Fest, bring home a pretty nifty trophy, and add a rare and special title to their resumes and pitch decks. It means quite a lot to each year’s stars.
So whether you’re ready to recognize, thank, and celebrate a peer or teammate who is just crushing it lately, or proud of an application you’ve had a hand in building and putting to work—take a moment to share that praise with the world.
You can find forms for individual category nominations here, and technology submissions here.
Best of luck!
