When their client needed to reduce 3 TB of Microsoft Office 365 email and file share data for review, JND eDiscovery set to work using a hybrid workflow between Relativity Assisted Review and search terms to zero in on what mattered most to the case.

“We needed to defensibly, but rapidly, cull through a huge data set and provide a robust analysis of the responsive documents,” said Director of eDiscovery Ben Sexton.

JND processed the data in RelativityOne in less than seven days, and then conducted an ECA analysis on the documents to get better acquainted with the information and design a plan of attack. They built an ECA workspace equipped with dashboards that analyzed the key players, clusters, communication analysis, and search term usage over time.

In parallel with Relativity Assisted Review, JND ran more than 1,050 search terms and 7,120 privilege search terms across the document set in under 12 hours.

Ultimately, JND’s marriage of Relativity Assisted Review and search terms filtered out 95 percent of the review set and saved their client upwards of $500,000 in document review fees.

JND then used RelativityOne’s statistical sampling workflow to validate that the suppressed document set was non-responsive. Random sampling armed JND with the information to feel confident in their results, without having to “drag clients through the technical weeds,” as Ben put it.

"The scale and complexity of the search on this project were historical. RelativityOne handled the job gracefully and shaved multiple days off our typical turnaround," Ben said. “When the technical team is smiling and the client is thanking you, you know you’ve done something right."
